Job Title: Experienced Landscape Irrigation Technician

Job Summary:

The Sprinkler Experts, a leading irrigation service provider in the Inland Empire / Orange County area, is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Experienced Landscape Irrigation Technician to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of irrigation system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. You will be responsible for independently managing service calls, performing complex diagnostics, implementing water-efficient solutions, and ensuring the optimal performance of irrigation systems for our valued residential and commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• · Independently install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of landscape irrigation systems (spray, rotor, drip, etc.).

• · Diagnose and resolve complex hydraulic and electrical issues, including wire tracing, fault finding, valve locating, and controller malfunctions.

• · Program, troubleshoot, and manage a wide range of irrigation controllers, including smart/weather-based controllers.

• · Perform irrigation system audits, evaluate water usage, and recommend/implement water conservation upgrades and practices.

• · Read and interpret landscape irrigation plans and specifications for installation and repairs.

• · Perform system modifications, upgrades, and renovations.

• · Conduct seasonal system start-ups and winterizations efficiently and thoroughly.

• · Maintain accurate records of services performed, materials used, and time spent via work orders or digital reporting.

• · Communicate professionally and effectively with clients regarding system diagnostics, repair options, recommendations, and controller operation.

• · Manage inventory of parts and supplies on the service vehicle.

• · Operate trenchers, pipe pullers, multimeters, wire locators, and other industry-specific tools safely and proficiently.

• · Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and industry best practices.

• · May assist in training or mentoring junior technicians.

Qualifications (Required):

• · Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience as a professional irrigation technician.

• · Proven ability to independently troubleshoot and repair complex irrigation system problems (electrical and hydraulic).

• · In-depth knowledge of irrigation components, including various types of heads, valves, controllers (e.g., Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro), sensors, and piping materials.

• · Proficiency in programming and operating conventional and smart irrigation controllers.

• · Ability to read and understand irrigation blueprints/plans.

• · Strong understanding of water conservation principles and techniques in irrigation.

• · Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier.

• · Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• · Strong communication and customer service skills.

• · Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.

• · Ability to perform physically demanding tasks associated with the role (lifting up to 50-75 lbs, digging, kneeling, bending, working outdoors).

• · Must have own reliable vehicle and tools.

Qualifications (Preferred/Nice-to-Have):

• · Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL), Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT), Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA), Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester).

• · Experience with central control systems.

• · Basic knowledge of landscape lighting systems.

• · Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Work Environment:

This position requires working outdoors year-round in various weather conditions prevalent in the Bay Area (heat, cold, rain, wind). You will be exposed to dirt, mud, water, insects, and noise from equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be used.

Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive hourly wage $35.00 - $45.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
